As part of its mission to strengthen knowledge exchange and promote advanced research methodologies, the TwinFLAG Project team successfully organized a practical Flow Cytometry Workshop during the BFCS 2026 conference held in Riga.
The workshop brought together a diverse audience of clinicians, scientists, and representatives of patient organizations, creating an interactive environment focused on learning and strengthening competencies in one of the most widely used analytical technologies in biomedical research.
During the session, participants were introduced to the fundamental principles of flow cytometry and gained practical knowledge on how this technology can be applied in both research and clinical settings. The workshop covered key topics including:
- Introduction to the basic principles of flow cytometry
- Understanding how cells are measured and analyzed using flow cytometry systems
- Learning how to identify and gate specific cell populations for accurate data interpretation
- The importance of using calibration and control beads to ensure reliable and standardized measurements
- Practical considerations for experimental design, data acquisition, and result interpretation
The workshop provided participants with both theoretical understanding and hands-on insights into flow cytometry workflows, helping bridge knowledge gaps between researchers, clinicians, and patient community representatives.
