In March 2026, Kimberley Jensen from the Mc Gee lab in UCD spent a week in the lab of Professor Linda Bojmar in Linköping University, Sweden where she gained hands-on experience in multiple techniques to advance Extracellular Vesicle biomarker research. This included culturing tumour explants from frozen and fresh colon, rectal and pancreatic tissue and isolating extracellular vesicles from these. She also learnt to dissociate tissue from explants into a single-cell suspension for future use in organoid culturing. This experience provided her with new skills to perform these cultures in UCD and also showcased the differences of using frozen and fresh tissue.
